    Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore was born in 1898; he made his first pair of shoes at the age of nine for his sisters to wear on their Christian confirmation.

His most famous invention is the “cage heels” After his death in 1960 at the age of 62. His wife, Wanda and their six children continue on the Ferragamo Company.

Fiamma (Salvatore's eldest daughter died in 1998) inherited her father's inimitable talent and came up with the "Vara pumps" in 1978.

He also designed the infamous red glittery shoe that clicked Dorothy home in the wizard of oz!

Now you must be wondering why am I talking about him.

It’s because I was rummaging through my mom’s wardrobe last night; I always knew she had a collection of ferragamo shoes & bags.

The shoes she has are stunning; unfortunately I can’t fit my feet into them as she is a size smaller. There have been in boxes for gods know how long but they still remain intact and gorgeous to look at.

As for the bags, I yelled out to her…”If you’re not going to carry them, it’s mine to keep!” – I think she didn’t hear me the first time, but I yelled out to her again and she said, just don’t spoilt them!”

Having said that, I was in David Jones the other day and I was trying on the ferragamo ballet flats and I hope they go down in price soon cos I’m tempted!

I’m in love with the gold badge with the imprint of ferragamo.

Just thought I should share my love in this.
